ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Outside linebacker Von Miller missed practice for the second consecutive day as he battles a knee injury.
Head Coach Vic Fangio said Miller did not need to practice this week in order to play Sunday against the Chargers.
“If he’s healthy enough to play and feels good about it, he’ll play,” Fangio said Thursday.
Miller has played in 95 consecutive games, including postseason contests. He last missed a regular-season game in 2013 when he suffered a torn ACL in a Week 15 game.
Fangio said there was no consideration to sit Miller out of precaution late in the season.
Linebacker Alexander Johnson (knee) and cornerback Duke Dawson Jr. (concussion).
“He got [his injury] late in the Buffalo game, and his availability for this week is up in the air,” said Fangio of Johnson’s status.
Defensive end Shelby Harris (ankle) and linebacker Josey Jewell (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity after missing Wednesday’s session. Fangio said Thursday the team expects Jewell to be ready for Sunday, and he said Monday he was “hopeful” Harris could play, as well.
Linebackers Joe Jones and Josh Watson could also be options at linebacker if Johnson is unavailable.
Tackle Ja’Wuan James (knee) was a full participant for the second consecutive day.
“He did fine,” Fangio said before Thursday’s practice. “… He got better as practice wore on. [He’s] probably a little sore today because he hasn’t worked that hard of late, but we’re hopeful that he’ll be able to play Sunday in the game, but it’s still to be determined.”
