The Seattle Seahawks reunited with longtime tight end Luke Willson this week, signing the veteran to replace Nick Vannett, who was shipped to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

Willson is expected to reprise his role as a blocking tight end in Seattle’s offense, which has changed offensive coordinators since Willson last donned the blue and green.

However, Willson appears to have adapted to his new setting quite well, at least according to his coach.

“He had a great week,” coach Pete Carroll said on Friday. “I don’t know how he did it, he looked like he’d been here the whole time. Everything he retained and then the new stuff that he had to learn he and [tight end coach] Pat McPherson worked it out. He had a very good week. He’ll be part of the plan.”

Willson will settle in as Seattle’s No. 2 tight end behind Will Dissly, who has gotten off to an excellent start in his second NFL season.

Expect to see Willson play a fair amount on Sunday, serving as both a blocker and occasionally a pass catcher in his first game with the Seahawks since the conclusion of the 2017 season.
