INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts are adding some size to their defensive interior.

The team today announced it has signed defensive tackle Trevon Coley to its active roster from the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad. In a corresponding move, the team waived defensive tackle Jihad Ward.

The 6-foot-1, 310-pound Coley originally signed with the Ravens in 2016 as an undrafted college free agent out of Florida Atlantic, where he converted to defensive tackle from linebacker and in four years recorded 12.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss.

After being waived by the Ravens during final cuts his first NFL year, Coley spent time during the 2016 season on the Washington Redskins’ practice squad before eventually being signed to the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad.

Coley worked his way up to the Browns’ active roster by the start of the 2017 season and earned a starting role, playing in 31 games with 29 starts across the 2017 and 2018 seasons and finishing with 80 total tackles (11 for a loss) with 2.5 sacks, two passes defensed and two fumble recoveries, while also causing a safety.
